Journalist Steve Moore to discuss “Economic Challenges for Millennials”

 

Randolph-Macon College will host journalist Steve Moore, who will present “Economic Challenges for Millennials” on Tuesday, May 7, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. in Blackwell Auditorium, R-MC Center for the Performing Arts

Moore is the author of Return to Prosperity: How America Can Regain Its Economic Superpower Status.  He is the senior economics writer for the Wall Street Journal (WSJ) and is also a member of its editorial board. Moore splits his time between Washington and New York, focusing on economic issues, including budget, tax and monetary policy.

Randolph-Macon College to Host Talk on China

On Monday, April 30, 2012, Randolph-Macon College will host “China’s Search for a Lasting System of Values: Will Christianity emerge as a Moral Foundation for Capitalism in China?” at 7:00 p.m. in Blackwell Auditorium, R-MC’s Center for the Performing Arts. Award-winning print and broadcast journalist and author David Aikman will present this lecture which is free and open to the public. His visit is sponsored by the BB&T Moral Foundations of Capitalism Program.

Aikman will discuss the dilemma that China’s leaders are facing to find an ethical center for its civilization and its impact on economics, business and the social fabric of their society. He will also explore the potential impact that Christianity could have on the country’s communist party. Aikman is a specialist on Russia, China, East Asia, the Middle East, and religious freedom issues worldwide.

If you’re a high school underclassman who would like to become a firefighter or EMT, Hanover County Fire/EMS has an exciting opportunity for you.

Through a partnership with J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College and Hanover Public Schools, Hanover Fire/EMS will again offer Firefighter 1 and 2 and EMT Basic classes at Hanover High School in the 2011-12 school year.

“These classes give students the chance to experience what an Emergency Medical Technician and/or a Firefighter has to know and do,” said Chris Hubbard, Battalion Chief in the Division of Training for Hanover Fire/EMS. “They are taught by some of our best Fire and EMS instructors.”
