Be a Part of the Hanover Tomato Festival!

The Hanover Tomato Festival is in search of vendors who make or sell unique tomato-related products. This fun filled event highlights the Hanover Tomato and features children’s activities, crafters, artisans and live entertainment.  With so much to offer, Hanover’s most popular event draws close to 40,000 attendees, making it a great platform for your company to reach thousands. The Hanover Tomato Festival will take place on July 14, 2012 from 9:00am to 4:00pm at Pole Green Park located at 8996 Pole Green Park Lane, Mechanicsville, VA 23116.

Ages 11 and up. Make a difference in someone's life! Course includes all materials, hands on experience with manikins and test at the end of class to receive the 2 year certification for CPR and First Aid from the American Safety and Health Institute. Hanover County Cannery set to open on July 1

Hanover County has a Cannery that also operates as a commercial kitchen for those wishing to start a food business for acidified foods such as pickled products, salsas, relishes and chow-chow. Prices will change this year.

The cannery opens on Friday, July 1. It will be open on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays throughout the months of July, August and October.

Processing of foods can start at the following times during these months:

  • On Mondays, 1-7 p.m. (the Cannery closes at midnight)
  • On Wednesdays and Fridays, 8:30-11 a.m. (closes at 4 p.m.)
  • On Saturdays, 8:30 a.m.-1 p.m.

Hanover County solid waste service convenience centers closed on July 4

Hanover’s six solid waste convenience centers and the U.S. Rt. 301 Transfer Station will be closed on Monday, July 4, in observance of Independence Day. The convenience centers and transfer station will re-open at their regular times on Tuesday, July 5.
